A pansy is a super slang but useful word in spoken English.  Add it to your slang vocabulary list but be careful with it.  It’s not a really bad word but it could upset someone if you use it with a really angry voice.   It should be used for fun between friends.  (A pansy is actually a type of flower, but it’s used very differently in slang spoken English with native speakers)

A pansy, is a person who is very scared to try anything new or take any risks.

Someone could say, “You don’t invest in stocks because you are afraid of losing a little money?  You are such a pansy”

Or a friend could say to another friend.  ”I know you like that girl.  Stop being such a pansy and just go talk to her.   Who cares if she rejects you, at least you tried.  It’s better than being a scared little pansy!“
