If you “cut corners” it means that you take a shortcut or thing of a solution to finish your work quickly. This can be used in both a good and a bad way. Sometimes smart people cut corners to save time. Sometimes lazy people cut corners to avoid working hard. The feeling of the word really depends on the context. I’ll give 2 examples. The first one is using it in a positive way and the second one is negative.
Here are two great sentences:
She is so efficient at work. She can do more in one day than most people can do in a week. She knows what is important and what isn’t. She knows when and where to cut corners.
He is super lazy. I think I’m going to fire him. I’ve told him man times that quality is important but he never listens. He keeps cutting corners and taking the easy way out.
